Values
Centering Black & Brown Joy
- Joy for all, but particularly telling & celebrating the stories & cultures of black and brown folks. We believe that telling these stories not only helps those of us who are underrepresented feel seen, but also sparks connection in everyone else too.
Affirmation of our Players
- We want our players to feel seen and represented by an industry that doesn’t tell our stories. This applies to players of color as a whole, but in particular to women, non-binary, and queer & trans players of color.
Fresh, Culturally-Informed Game Mechanics
- We’re interested in exploring fresh, new game mechanics informed by our underrepresented and, in games underexplored cultural backgrounds.
Luxurious Gameplay
- We’re committed to making games with not only a high quality look and feel, but those which also feel luxurious to play in those intangible ways.
Towards a Lasting Legacy of
Pushing Down Barriers
- Glow Up exists to set a precedent for the rest of the industry so that they take notice of both players and creators of color, and underrepresented players in general. We are interested in setting a precedent for real structural change.
Creating More Opportunities
for Creators of Color
- There’s a pipeline problem but also a leaky bucket problem. We hold close to our hearts values of mentorship and nurturing underrepresented talent.
Community
- We believe in the power of community, particularly among underrepresented folks who participate in games spaces. Whether internal community at Glow Up, or community with and among our players, we here to celebrate, see, and affirm one another.
